Spooky Season Reads
With the leaves changing and the dark hours of the night starting earlier and earlier, my reading interests have pivoted to mysteries and thrillers. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather read a scary story than watch one on TV. Maybe it’s because I can close the covers quick if I get too spooked? Or that the suspense is incredibly more powerful, to me, in words?
I love suspense so much that my first publication in print was a creepy tale about a dark and frightful night!
To get you in the mood for the season, and offer you a bit of playful fright. Check out these

It always starts on a dark and dreary night. Read in Reservations about a stranger tucked in a corner booth, enjoying a plate of spaghetti, as they become the sole witness to a family plotting murderous revenge.
This past week, I went to see A Haunting in Venice starring Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, and Kenneth Branagh. 10/10 would recommend this tale of a 1947 Halloween party set in a haunted mansion. Of course, read the book first! Agatha Christie is the queen of eerie mysteries.
Blackmail can only get you so far. And Julien was planning to give it up when she had enough money. That is until she learns about The Lost Daughters of Stone Harbor.
I came across Mother Dear about two years ago, and the story shook me to the core! Its genre is a fresh type of creepy, that makes you wonder: Is there anything a mother won’t do for her children?
